It's unanimous: AWDoR has improved naval warfare. Not surprising, with a new cheap unit that can attack and transport infantry, cheaper units in general, Subs being dived when built,
I still have some issues with it:
1) Gunboats having ONE ammo. Instead of maybe two or--less likely--three.
2) Subs being ridiculously difficult to detect. Outside Fog of War, the only indications of so much as the existence of an enemy Sub as far as I'm aware are the sound that is made when it is built and the funds reduction of 20K--both meaning nothing in Fog of War. Driving by them should at least reveal them, and there should maybe be a sea unit that reveals hidden stuff without moving right next to them.
3) Battleships having too much range. TEN spaces. Move + Range Fire (with artillery fire) should be restricted to finishing Movement with at least 3 Movement Power left. (That way, the Battleship can move only 2 spaces and fire 5 spaces for a total of 7 total range.)
4) Aircraft Carriers' attack ability seriously nerfed and Aircraft Carriers not being able to do their job effectively enough for their cost. Okay, they can still build a(n) (overcomplicated) variant of the Attacker, and the Launching is done right. But Producing units still uses up the Carrier's turn and is limited to said (overcomplicated) Attacker variant.
Other than that, no real other issues with navy VS navy.
